Digital Delivery Resources

There are a lot of really useful resources about digital delivery and agile ways of working out there.  We use a lot of resources in our training courses that come from a large range of sources.

Here you will find some of the resources we use with links to the sources and articles explaining specific useful aspects, or an explanation of the resource itself.

We plan to continually add to this over time so that it becomes a repository for lots of useful information about digital delivery and agile ways of working.

There are a number of agile topics that we find are key to building succesful delivery teams.  We've written some articles on some of the most useful topics.

A concise and accurate overview of the scrum framework that explains the scrum roles, artefacts and events and how scrum works.

Alignment is the key to ensuring teams are motivated, innovative and productive.  This short article illustrates why it is important and the simple steps to align a team.

Creating and nurturing an agile culture underpins succesful delivery teams and organisations.  This article reviews a short video by David Marquet on the steps he took to improve the effectiveness of his submarine crew.

User Stories are a commonly used artefact that delivery teams use to manage their work.  This article describes what user stories are and how they should be used.

The INVEST acronym is used to help delivery teams understand the level of detail needed in a user story for it to be ready for planning work to deliver all or a part of a product increment.

We tend to use a few videos on our courses.  Shown below are the ones we use most frequently.

This video by Henrick Kniberg when he worked at Spotify is great for explaining not just the role of the product owner, but also provides a great insight into how agile delivery works and some of the factors that need to be considered.

It's the video that we share the most and one that we encourage others to share , even if it's just to provide an awareness of agile delivery.

David Marquet was US Navy Submarine Captain.  In this video he explains the simple steps he took to make changes to improve the effectiveness of his crew that resulted in a change of culture.  He explains how this approach can be applied to organisations.

This is a great video especially for leaders that helps them understand the importance of their role as leaders in being able to change and influence the culture of their teams.

We've also written an article about it that you can read here.

Happy, healthy delivery teams deliver the best solutions for users.  But our traditional thinking around what motivates us only applies when we tackle mechanical problems.  Delivery of digital services is complex and requires significant cognitive problem-solving approaches.

In this video Dan Pink explains his work on understanding what motivates us.

We use the video a lot to explain that motivating teams doesn't take a lot when done in the right way by ensuring teams are aligned and autonomous, are given the space to be innovative and continually improve their professional knowledge and skills.

We've written an article the review the video and explains a little about how we use it.  You can read it here.
