Below you will find the official policies per Nichols Middle School and Joshua ISD.
Please read the JISD policies if you are unclear of the district policies.
The new State Law
HB 1481 states that it is now against the law to use cell phones during the school day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Students MAY listen to their
own music or look up references ONLY on the classroom Chromebooks, NOT on personal devices of any kind
RESTROOM POLICY
My classroom adheres to the 2025-2026 Nichols Restroom Policy. Students WILL NOT be able to go to the restroom during the first or last 10 minutes of class. If the need arises during class, students may occasionally leave class for a trip to the restroom, on an emergency basis only, by filling out the NMS electronic restroom pass. Every effort should be made to go to the restroom during passing periods, during lunch, or during PE times so they are not missing instructional time during class.
CHROMEBOOK
POLICY
Students will be issued a specifically numbered Chromebook for my class. They will retain the same Chromebook throughout their time in my class. If a student notices damage on their Chromebook, they MUST alert the teacher as soon as the damage is noticed, within the first three minutes of opening their computer. Chromebook usage will be tracked by the JISD Technology department, and the last person to have used the Chromebook will be responsible for any damages.
FOOD IN CLASSROOMS
Students are not permitted to eat or drink food that they have brought to or purchased at school in any NMS classroom. This is non-negotiable and is expected to be strictly enforced. This is a Nichols Middle School Policy. The only exception to this policy is if the teacher has obtained special permission for a "food activity" in the classroom.
