The comprehensive school counseling program curriculum systematically & intentionally guides the planning of activities that assist all students in developing the knowledge & skills they need to enhance their educational, career, personal & social development.
The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs recognizes four content areas in which all students should receive guidance:

Personal Health & Safety
The Texas Model program curriculum sequence is embedded on this webpage for reference.
The Joshua ISD school counselors, in partnership with administrators, teachers, staff & community stakeholders, deliver this curriculum to all JISD students in grades K-12.
According to Texas Education Code 33.005, “The school counselor shall design the program to include a guidance curriculum to help students develop their full potential, including the student’s interests and career objectives”. TEA’s School Counseling webpage states that the guidance curriculum is designed to be delivered to all students as a Tier I support in helping all students reach their full educational potential.
In keeping with The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, TEA, and Texas Education Code, the counseling team at Joshua ISD has purchased and developed curriculum materials in the following areas, as outlined in Section V of The Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Programs model:
Intrapersonal Effectiveness
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Post- Secondary Planning & Career Readiness
Personal Health & Safety
