Welcome to my English website! I provided some basic information about my classroom procedures and policies. Here you can learn about my weekly lesson plans and class activities. I also posted some useful links to grammar and vocabulary websites. These educational websites contain lots of fun interactive exercises that students can do at their leisure. You can also find the link to MLA handbook online to help with the research paper.
Class Rules and Procedures:
Class rules:
A. Be respectful of students and teachers. Kindness, consideration, and
good will overcome all differences and obstacles between people.
B. Always bring required materials: pen, pencil, class notebook with writing
paper, and any assigned reading material.
C. Be in the room by the bell, and be in the process of being seated if not
seated already. The bell does not dismiss the class --- the teacher does.
If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to get information and notes for that class
at the earliest possible date. Review of missed information is not suitable during a
regular class, since that would interfere with that day’s work. You either must get
the information from another student whose reliability you trust or you must get
information from me before or after school. Please check Google classroom first, as most of the
notes and activities will be posted there.
This is important because you will be held accountable for all information on
tests and quizzes.
b. If you miss a test or quiz, the ultimate responsibility to see that you have taken it lies
with you. If you miss a quiz or test, you must take it the day you return to class. If you
had been absent two days before the quiz or test, then you have two days to prepare,
and so forth. Failure to take the quiz or test on the proper date will result in 25 point
penalty per day late.
Any test or quiz that has not been taken by the end of the grading period will be
counted as a zero, within the conditions set by Joshua High School policy.
c. Late work will be penalized: 25%will be deducted for one day late, 50% for 2 to 4 days
late, and a 0 after four days.
d. Smart phones and ear pods may not be used in class. It is a state law.
Two bathroom breaks per six weeks except with a doctor’s note for medical reasons. Use your
inter-class break efficiently and do your business before
class, so we can do ours during class.
