Career and College Promise (CCP)

North Carolina's Career & College Promise (CCP) Program allows eligible high school students to enroll in college classes at Johnston Community College. Students who successfully complete college courses earn college credit they can take with them after graduation. In many cases, students can also earn dual credit - meeting high school graduation requirements with college courses. Career & College Promise offers high school students options to pursue educational and career goals of their choice using a rigorous yet supportive structure designed to help them become successful through these opportunities:

College Transfer - Designed for students planning to continue their educational career beyond high school to eventually achieve an Associate's or Bachelor's degree at a community college or university. See courses HERE . Requirements:
Career & Technical Education - Allows students to begin a certification or diploma program in a particular technical field or career area. See courses HERE

Courses are taught either on CHS campus, JCC campus, or online. Announcements are made via social media, emails, website updates, and presentations for registration. Students sign up for courses three times per year:

For FALL classes that begin in August: Students sign up the prior March during registration
For SPRING classes that begin in January: Students sign up the prior fall (usually the end of September/October)
For SUMMER classes that begin in May: Students sign up the prior spring (usually in March or April)

NEW CCP STUDENTS - Have not enrolled in CCP before and have never taken CCP classes.
RETURNING CCP STUDENTS - Have previously taken CCP classes, but are not in classes this semester (Fall 2018).
CURRENT CCP STUDENTS - Are currently taking CCP classes this semester (Fall 2018).

NEW AND RETURNING CCP STUDENTS

NEW STUDENTS: The deadline to complete all 4 of the steps in the application process is Wednesday, October 10, 2018. If you miss this deadline, your next opportunity to apply will be in Spring for classes in Summer/Fall of 2019.

NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS: Read through all steps first, then complete steps 1-4 below.

Complete the JCC application at www.johnstoncc.edu by clicking on “Apply Online Today.” When you click to submit the application, print your Application Agreement Statement as your verification page. If you do not have a printer, copy the confirmation number on a sheet of paper. You will need this number in steps 2 and 3. Please use these instructions to complete the application.

NOTE: Be sure to (1) select “Career and College Promise” as your entrance status and (2) select your specific chosen pathway on the question that asks for the program of study.

2. Both you and your parent sign your Application Agreement Statement from Step 1. Please take your signed agreement page to your counselor or bring to your appointment to finalize your packet. If you did not print the page and wrote down the confirmation number, bring or turn in the signed handwritten sheet.

3. Complete the CCP Student Eligibility Form at this link - CCP Student Eligibility Form Spring 2019

4. Sign up for an appointment and meet with Becky Russell to review qualifications and finalize your packet. Use these instructions to make an appointment with Becky Russell. http://bit.ly/2N39cF6 If you do not see an appointment time that works, please email Becky Russell to set up an appointment.

NEW STUDENTS: Once you are accepted to JCC, you will receive a welcome packet in the mail with additional instructions to set up an advising/registration appointment as a CCP student. You are not registered for any classes until you meet with an advisor to register at JCC. JCC is working to schedule these appointments. When appointments are open, CCP will send a REMIND message. RETURNING STUDENTS: You may not receive a welcome packet. Please use your previous colleague ID # to schedule an advising/registration appointment at JCC. If you are unsure of your JCC ID#, contact Becky Russell. You are not registered for any classes until you meet with an advisor to register at JCC. JCC is working to schedule these appointments. CURRENT CCP STUDENTS

PLEASE NOTE - You are not "officially" registered for spring JCC classes until you go to JCC to meet with an advisor to register. The class may be on your spring schedule in PowerSchool, but you are not "officially" registered through JCC until you attend an advising appointment at JCC and register.
