UStrive Program Description:
UStrive offers students the opportunity to select mentors who help guide them through their journey to college. Mentors communicate with their mentees through instant messaging, emails, phone calls, texting, and video chats. All communications take place through the UStrive platform. Students and mentors can also utilize resources on the UStrive platform, such as UStrive’s comprehensive college search tool and curriculum, which is crafted especially for virtual delivery. UStrive’s curriculum contains over 130 guides and is modular. Mentees work with their mentors to choose which modules will best support their college and career journey. Users can easily find the guide they need by entering a question or key word in our search tool. Examples of activities that UStrive mentoring pairs work on together include:
Writing and editing college application essays
Preparing for campus life
Creating budgets for college and beyond
Overcoming "summer melt:" the obstacles that cause students to decide over the summer that they won't go to college in the fall, even if they were accepted into a college program
Exploring career interests
Identifying steps needed to achieve career goals
Applying for internships and jobs
