Please be reminded that, from the start of term, on days when students have Core PE and/or Dance lessons they must wear the correct PE kit to school as per our uniform policy; all items of clothing must be regulation items and they may not wear other types of sportswear. The normal rules on Hoodies apply and these must not be worn over PE kit. An appropriate coat should be worn, and students may wish to wear their blazer as an additional layer if it is cold.
We are also asking that students bring a change of clothes with them on their PE days. This could be their school uniform or a spare PE kit. Having a change of clothes is especially important for those taking part in rugby, as it is very likely they will need to get changed after their lesson. We also ask that students bring a roll-on deodorant (rather than an aerosol spray) to use after PE, as sprays can aggravate asthma and cause discomfort in the changing rooms as well as presenting a health and safety hazard.
To help your child stay organised, you can check which activity they are currently on via our PE department website which will be updated at the start of term.
By making sure students come in the correct kit and are prepared with a change of clothes, we can ensure that they get the most out of their PE lessons while staying comfortable throughout the school day.
LUNCHTIME DETENTIONS POLICY
If students do not arrive to school in PE kit and have to borrow, they will receive a C2A lunchtime detention.
If students are wearing incorrect PE kit or have not brought in correct footwear for their lesson ( for example nike pros, rugby boots etc) and need to change into our spare kit they will receive a C2A lunchtime detention.
Your child is expected to sit outside the Sports Hall office for 10 minutes. During this time we will discuss with your child the reason they have not attended school in their PE kit and support them for this to not happen again. If your child fails to attend this detention, they will be given a C3 for not following staff instructions.
The second time the kit is borrowed, it will be another C2A lunchtime detention. Again, if failed to attend this detention, it is a C3 for not following staff instructions.
Finally, if your child has to borrow kit for the third time it is an instant C3 given. Hopefully, our intervention with them during the previous kit detentions will prevent it getting to this stage as we will have supported them with their organisation.
If there is a supply issue with the kit or you foresee an issue with their kit please send your child in with a written note and we will excuse your child from the C2A detention as we understand the issue is being rectified. Student's will be given spare kit to borrow for their lesson.
There is a second hand uniform shop where kit items can be purchased at a lower price.
Please note if your child refuses to borrow our spare PE kit a C3 will be given for not following staff instructions.
IMPORTANT NOTICES FOR LUNCHTIME DETENTIONS : If your child has been given a 10 minute detention for not being fully equipped they must follow the given information below. If they do not follow the information provided this will aid in further sanctions being given to them.
Students must sit outside the PE office for 10 minutes in SILENCE.
If they do not arrive within 5 minutes of their lunch break the C2A will escalate to a C3.
Students should NOT be going to the canteen before the 10 minute detention. They will have plenty of time after the detention to ensure they eat lunch.
Students must NOT eat or talk during their detention. If students fail to follow this instruction they will be asked to leave and a C3 will be given.
Injury
In the event that students are unable to do PE due to injury, students need to bring a physical note to explain the reason and for cases longer than 2 weeks a doctor's note will need to be provided. Please can you ensure that this is a physical note. We do not accept emails. The reason for this is that they may have a teacher covering the lesson and sometimes emails were not being received in sufficient time. If your child is injured it is expected that they still arrive at school in their PE kit acting as a coach or official. We understand that for some injuries this will not be possible and will make exceptions for these.
