Girl Power Inspired by the following article, from the Guardian newspaper which addresses girls stopping physical activity in their teenage years. After reading this article and with collaboration with the school counsellors we surveyed all MS students, and although not quite as extreme as the UK, where the article is written about, there were enough similarities for us to want to try to take action.
Girl Power is a program that will be run by female role models for female students. Female teachers from all divisions of JIS will offer a physical activity that they are passionate about. There is an incredible range of activities on offer, from Yoga and Pilates, to Dance, Badminton and Body Pump. Our hope is that Girl Power will give some girls who in the past have not chosen to do a traditional sport an opportunity to be physically active.
