Rugby

The Rugby virtual skills challenge offers you three chances to participate:

1) Rugby Passing Challenge

      • This drill should be completed as fast as possible while maintaining accuracy. Both the score and the time need to be recorded. The time will be used to determine a tie-break.

      • A total of 15 passes will be attempted (10 side passes + 5 line-out passes).

      • Points values for successfully hitting the target are:

          1. Side pass hitting the target = 5 points each

          2. Line-out pass hitting the target = 10 points each

      • 5 balls will be placed in each of the 3 different throwing locations shown in the image below:

      • The three passing locations are to be 7m from the try line.

      • The player starts at one of the side locations for the normal side pass. The player picks up each of the balls and attempts a side pass to hit the padded upright post. Points awarded for successfully hitting the target.

      • After the first 5 side passes the player moves to the middle throwing location.

      • From the middle location the player attempts 5 line-out passes to hit the crossbar. Points awarded for successfully hitting the target.

      • After the 5 line-out passes the player moves to the last throwing location.

      • From the last location the player attempts 5 side passes to hit the padded upright post. Points awarded for successfully hitting the target.

      • The clock starts when the player picks up the first ball and the clock stops when the last thrown ball either hits the padded upright post, or if the pass misses the target the clock stops when the last passed ball hits the ground.

      • Scores and the time are recorded to the leaderboard.

2) Dropkick Challenge

      • Each player gets 3 attempts from each kicking location to score as many points as possible. The kicking locations are showing in the image below:

      • Made kicks from the 22m line are scored as follows:

          1. From the center = 3 points each

          2. From the right and left sides = 5 points each

      • Made kicks from the 10m line are worth 8 points each

      • Scores are recorded on the leaderboard.

3) Rugby Agility & Speed Challenge

    • Place 6 agility poles in a straight line with 1.5m of distance between them. If agility poles are not available, you may use whatever items you have: chairs, trash bins, tall cones, family members, you get the idea. We would like the items used to be a bit tall, waist level or higher.

    • Place a ball on the ground at the front of the first pole.

    • The player picks up the ball and runs a swerve pattern weaving in and out of all the poles.

    • When the player gets to the last pole they circle all the way around the last pole and perform the same swerve pattern weaving between the poles back to the first pole.

    • When back at the first pole the player fully circles this first pole and sprints in a straight line to place the ball on the ground at the last pole like scoring a try.

    • The clock starts when the player picks up the ball and the clock stops when the player has placed the ball on the ground at the end to score the try.

    • If a pole is knocked over that player is marked as a DQ and must try again.

    • A clock must be viewable in the video. Fastest times win.

    • Record the time showing seconds and milliseconds (example: 0:30:11 is 30.11 seconds).
