Students completing the IBCAS requirements in grades 11-12 must engage in at least one CAS project between August of grade 11 and March of grade 12. The IBCAS project is at least one month in duration and shows initiative, perseverance, and developing skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making. The project can address any single strand of CAS, or combine two or all three strands. The IBCAS Project is a collaborative, well-considered series of sequential CAS experiences, engaging students in one or more of the CAS strands of creativity, activity, and service. Students should aim to undertake their IBCAS project locally and engage, if possible, in more than one IBCAS project over the duration of grades 11-12.
The IBCAS project requires that the student…
participates in sustained collaboration of at least one month between a group of students or with members of the community
work as part of a team, with all members being contributors to the project
initiate part of or the entire CAS project
use the CAS stages as a framework for implementation to ensure that all requirements are met
design the project with a defined purpose or goal
identify 1-3 learning outcomes to be met
