Providing leadership in for online instruction has many components. It has all the tasks you would expect in and brick and mortar school. However, there are additional considerations for leaders who are working with online learning. One consideration is technology. What LMS will you use? What online tools will you use and how will you determine if they are the right fit for your school?
Budgeting and timetabling are obvious considerations. However, unlike the regular classroom, budget needs to include hardware tools and software that are specific to online instruction.
Timetables need to be flexible and must be built with learner and staff online fatigue in mind. There must be a balance between synchronous and asynchronous course delivery.
And then there is staff and student management. How does a leader ensure that student attendance and engagement can be dealt with if problems arise?
These are just a few considerations for leaders. A link will be provided to resources discussing more about this topic soon.
