The answers to the following questions show that even though volunteering helps gain valuable work experience, it has not affected most participants' college major or career path choice yet, since many participants were students and do not know exactly what they plan to do in the future.
Personally, I feel that my volunteer experience has given me a better idea of what leading a nonprofit would be like and what I might be doing in the future, which is why these questions were added.
More than half of participants feel that doing community service has helped them gain valuable work experience. 39% of participants “strongly agree,” and 27.4% “agree.” 23.8% stated that they felt “neutral.” Only 9.5% disagreed.
When asked whether they had a volunteer experience that inspired them to choose a college major or career path, most participants disagreed. 33.3% said they “strongly disagree” and 14.3% “disagreed.” 29.8% felt “neutral,” while only 22.6% agreed.
