GED / High-School Equivalency

The GED Process

The path to getting your GED goes through a series of three tests that ultimately leads you to a high-school equivalency diploma--the GED.

The TABE Test

The Test for Adult Basic Education is a multi-level assessment test that all adult education programs in Kentucky use to enroll students. This test lets us know where you are when you start your journey and where to go next. This test covers Reading, Math, and Language skills.

The Ready Test

The Ready Test, is the official practice test for the GED. It is a half-length version of a GED test with the same passing requirements. In Kentucky, passing this test is required before you are able to take the GED Test. We suggest that students score at least a 515 on the TABE test before they attempt a Ready Test.

The GED Test

The GED Test is the only high school equivalency exam offered in Kentucky. The GED credential is earned when you pass all four sections (Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math) by scoring a 145 or higher.
