Driver's Education Class:
Driver's Education is a quarter long class. Students must be 15 years of age or turn 15 years of age during the book phase of Driver's Education. Students must also have passed 8 classes in the previous two semesters prior to being scheduled into Driver's Education. Scheduling is prioritized by birth date and students must pass this quarter long class prior to behind-the-wheel instruction.
Cost: a Driver's Permit will be issued to students and the cost is $20.
Behind the Wheel Instruction:
Behind the Wheel instruction is scheduled by birth date and is normally scheduled near the student driver's 16th birthday. Students must complete six hours of driving instruction and six hours of observation of another student driving during the course. JCHS participates in the Secretary of State's Cooperative Driver Testing Program which allows the driver education teacher to give the final "Road Test" for a driver's license to the students earning an A or a B average in the Classroom and the Behind the Wheel combined.
