Thank you so much for your interest in my Gold Award project! Whether you're thinking about donating, sponsoring a girl, or just want to learn more—this FAQ section is here to help. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to text or call me at 630-261-5131.
1. What is Periods With Dignity?
It’s my Girl Scout Gold Award project focused on ending period poverty for girls in rural Ghana. I’m creating care packages, providing reusable pad kits, and offering menstrual health education to help girls feel confident, stay in school, and manage their periods with dignity. This project aims to provide period care packages and menstrual health education to 110 girls at Mampong Methodist J.H.S in Ghana. The goal is to reduce period poverty, help girls stay in school, and break the stigma around menstruation.
2. Who will receive the donations?
The donations will go to 110 girls ages 11–18 at Mampong Methodist J.H.S in Ghana. I’ll be traveling there in June to deliver the care packages and lead a menstrual health class in person.
3. What exactly goes in a Period Care Package?
Each package includes essentials like pads, panty liners, soap, hand sanitizer, wipes, affirmation cards, tea bags, heat packs, and journals for tracking. These items support comfort, hygiene, and confidence.
4. What’s in a reusable pad kit?
Each $15 kit includes 2 shields, 8 liners, 2 panties, a washcloth, care instructions, and a carrying bag. These sustainable kits are provided through my partnership with Days for Girls.
5. Can I support the project another way?
Yes! You can help by purchasing a handmade Ankara fan from Ayebea’s Sankofa Marketplace—100% of proceeds now through Mother’s Day will go toward sponsoring reusable pad kits. One fan = One girl sponsored.
6. Can I still help if I’m not local?
Definitely! The easiest way is to shop from our Amazon Wishlist—your donation will ship straight to me for packing.
7. Why is this project important?
Because no girl should miss school or feel ashamed because of her period. Many girls in Ghana use unsafe alternatives or stay home during their cycle. With proper supplies and education, they can stay in school and take charge of their health.
8. What is a Dignity Cupboard?
It’s a cabinet I’m helping set up at the school that stays stocked with menstrual supplies, so girls can access what they need during the school day—no questions asked.
9. What if more than 110 people donate?
That would be amazing! Any extra supplies will either go toward stocking the Dignity Cupboard or supporting other girls in nearby schools.
10. How do I know my donation will actually get to the girls?
I’ll be traveling to Ghana in person this June to hand-deliver everything and host the education session myself. I’ll also be sharing updates and photos after the trip.
11. Can boys or men support this project too?
Absolutely! Period health affects everyone—families, communities, and futures. Anyone can donate supplies, help spread the word, or sponsor a kit.
12. How can I get in touch if I have more questions?
You can text or call 630-261-5131 with any questions or ideas. I’d love to hear from you!
