Jefferson Union High School District has a partnership with the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR). Transition Specialists and Training Assistants provide Self Advocacy Training, Work Based Learning and Work Place Readiness, for students who become clients in DOR. The partnership also includes access to a DOR Student Services counselor. In our case his name is Winston Louie. If you/your student becomes a client of the DOR, then Winston will work with the students individually and in small groups specifically on pursuing a job/career of interest. The DOR service will be in addition to the transition services provided in the IEP. It's a little extra specialized help navigating these systems. DOR services also come with a host of agency connections and career resources above and beyond current services.
