Wolf Pack Weekly
Echo Trail Middle School Weekly Newsletter
Welcome!
August 1, 2023
Hello Wolf Pack Families!
The 23-24 School Year is around the corner and we are thrilled to welcome our 6th grade class on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. We will communicate with you each week with our “Wolf Pack Weekly.” Our hope is it will give you up to date information as well as a glance at the week and upcoming events. To ensure we have your most up-to-date information, please check your information in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (email address, phone numbers) so you receive our communications. I believe communication is key with our families as we develop a strong partnership to provide the best education possible for your child.
Already I am grateful for everyone’s efforts to make what will be the best start at Echo Trail Middle School. The most important thing I want to emphasize is that we have a wonderful opportunity opening a brand new school, but the building doesn’t make the people grEaT - it is the people who make the building grEaT! Even more important, WE are setting the stage for what our traditions and legacy will be, and what awesome experiences we will create together. When building something that will be absolutely wonderful, there will be hiccups but I can say that we will handle every hiccup with grace and a plan. The entire Echo Trail Staff is committed to working hard for our students and families.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone this week at our 6th Grade Orientation Thursday, August 3rd at the Jeffersonian. Please see the details below:

JCPS has a quick link for back-to-school forms and information: jcps.me/parents
Under Parent Place you will need to complete the following forms: nurse consent to treat at school, student information enrollment form, student residency, student support handbook, and more.
These forms need to be completed as soon as possible for a smooth start of the school year.
Click here for a visual walkthrough of the Parent Portal site.
Another very informative link for parents is the main JCPS Parent website, jefferson.kyschools.us/parents.
You can set up a parent portal account by clicking Parent Portal tab if you don't already have one. FYI, Parent Portal is locked down by the district until the first day of school, August 9th.
Finally, we'd love to have you participate in field trips and other volunteer opportunities. Click on the blue box Get Involved: to complete the Volunteer Talent Center for background check. Background checks are kept on file and good for 5 years.

Back to School Family Night @ Legend at Pope Lick
Saturday, August 12, 2023 7pm
Saturday, August 12, 2023 7pm
Courtesy of Legend at Pope Lick Adventure Outpost, join us for a family friendly night as we kick-off the 2023/24 school year! This is a collaborative event for Echo Trail Middle School Families to attend a free outdoor movie night for a showing of Twister (1996). Families are encouraged to wear ETMS Spirit Wear, bring blankets and lawn chairs. Coolers are strongly discouraged. This free event is made possible by your support of the vendors, concessions, and fun activities.
In addition to the film and food vendors, there will be a full playground, corn hole, oversized yard pong, oversized connect 4, Kan Jam, Spike Ball, a 9-hole mini golf, and more! We encourage families to RSVP using the Creature Feature Facebook event page. You can also learn more about this event and future events by following Legend at Pope Lick Adventure Outpost on Facebook. Click here to see the Facebook event page.
Special thanks to Legend at Pope Lick Adventure Outpost for the invitation!

Wolf Pack Athletics
Athletic Forms
Parents/Guardians,
We are excited for our first ever Echo Trail athletics season to begin! We have several Fall sports already starting tryouts and practices. Here are a few quick notes to share as we get started.
Your student athlete will not be able to participate in any activity (including practices) until they have completed the Echo Trail Athletics Physical Packet. This includes the WHOLE packet. Use the cover sheet as a checklist to complete all required forms in order for your student athlete to be eligible to start their desired activity.
The "Parent Permission/Release Form" must be completed and must be taken to get notarized in order to be verified (places to notarize: banks, UPS stores, etc). The sports physical portion of the packet (pgs. 7-9) must be completed and signed by a doctor or certified medical professional to verify the form, stating that your athlete is cleared to participate. Read the instructions on page 10 about the remaining pages of the packet. If you do not have a FULLY COMPLETED packet to present to an Echo Trail Coach or Administrator by the start of the first practice, your student athlete will not be allowed to participate until the full packet has been completed and turned in.
Thanks for your attention to this! We Expect greaT things from this Wolf Pack!

Volleyball Tryouts
We will have two tryout days:
Wednesday August 2nd from 4pm-6pm
Thursday August 3rd from 1pm-3pm
We would love to see students both days if possible, but understand if they are only able to make it to one. Please try to be there 15 minutes prior to tryout times in order to have physicals turned in.
Tryouts will be held at 1820 Taylor Ave, Louisville, KY 40213.
What your student needs bring to tryouts:
-Physical completed and notarized - this is very important as students will not be able to tryout without this! You can find this packet attached to this email.
Sports Safety Video - https://www.jefferson.kyschools.us/books/jcps-parent-student-sports-safety-video
-Water bottle
Skills we will be looking for:

We're excited to see you out there!

Cross Country
If you're student is interested in joining the Cross Country team, c'mon! We welcome all that are interested, whether you've been running for years or if you're just getting started!
Come and meet us!
Information will be at the 6th Grade Orientation on Thursday AND our next practice is tonight, Tuesday, 8/1 @ The Parklands. Students must have a completed physical and athletic packet to turn in to us before they may run with the team. Email us for details!XC Communications: The SPORTSYOU App
All XC communications will be distributed through the SportsYou app. It can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play Store for free. Once downloaded, create an account and use the following code to join the team group, ETMS CODE: TG8R-EAGZ.Can my kid play another sport? Yes!
As much as I would love all runners to be at every practice and meet, we understand that may not be possible. I strongly recommend attending as many practices as possible, but this isn't a "make every practice, or you're off the team" kind of sport. Just give us a heads-up and we'll work out the details.
Email us for questions and detailed information. Thanks!
