Below is the JCPS Seal of Biliteracy information for the JCPS Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 17th. More information to come after the approval.

It's a new school year, and KWLA wishes you all the best as you return to your classrooms! The KWLA Virtual Conference, Looking Forward: New Ideas, New Standards, will be September 17-18 on Zoom. We have a great line-up of events this year, from five workshops (between 9/15-9/19), our annual trivia night on Friday, and a celebration on Saturday as we turn Kentucky blue on the National Seal of Biliteracy map! More information on the schedule and registration is below. We look forward to reconnecting with you at our virtual conference and all the discussions about world language and culture teaching.

Full Virtual Conference fee is $60 and includes:

· Membership to KWLA

· Participation in ALL virtual sessions on Saturday, September 18th

· Virtual Keynote by Ying Jin and Elena Kamenetzky (both ACTFL Teachers of the Year) on Saturday, September 18th

· Trivia Night on Friday, September 17th

· Award Ceremony on Saturday, September 17th

· Pre-conference Workshop by Dr. Laura Roche’ Youngworth : Look No More: the New KY Academic Standards (KAS) for World Language on Wednesday, September 15th

Additional workshops are available for an additional $10 per workshop.

· Pre-conference Workshop by Sara Merideth: Getting to the Core: what it means to be Proficiency-Based on Thursday, September 16th at 6pm

· Pre-conference Workshop by Elena Kamenetzky: Backwards Design in the Proficiency-Based Classroom on Friday, September 17th at 4 pm

· Post-conference Workshop by Ying Jin: Enriching Your Classroom Instruction with Global Competence on Sunday, September 19th at 4pm

· Post-conference Workshop by Dr. LJ Randolph and Dr. Stacy Johnson: Social Justice-Oriented Instruction: Intentional Goals & Inclusive Practices on Sunday, September 19th at 1pm
