Selected student work for Interactive Media (or Intro to Media Arts) students will be given the opportunity to compete in the Scholastic National Art Contest. These students are expected to prepare the required materials for submission upon acceptance. There are limited entries available annually.
All students are given the opportunity to submit a Doodle for Google entry for the current year's theme. COVID-19 delayed the 2020 entries from last year, but I will continue to add this as an option each year. Students will be expected to prepare the required materials for submission. This is open to all students, in each course.
The process of submitting work to juried competitions is valuable to practice and understand. It is the same process used for scholarships, college applications requiring portfolio work, and more. As I find more competitions that relate to our curriculum, I will provide these opportunities to students as alternative projects. Doodle for Google can also be supplemented to reach course objectives, so the same process will be applied. Students will be given a choice always and can decide on what is best for their career and college goals.
