Visual Arts: Level 1

Art courses provide activities that foster creative expression, communication through artistic endeavor, and appreciation of culture and heritage. We focus on lesions that enable students to refine their technique, increase their artistic vocabulary, express themselves and their world view, make connections to their lives, develop their own aesthetic, make choices in directions projects take and strengthen their critical abilities. Students are encouraged to find their own artistic voice through a wide variety of art mediums.

Visual Arts Level 2

This course offers the chance to create and explore many areas of the Visual Arts through different mediums, techniques and materials. A semester of Art 7 will provide students the opportunity to engage in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects such as drawing, painting, sculpture, clay and jewelry. Art projects are designed to develop an understanding of the Elements and Principles of Art.

Advanced Art 7/8

In Advanced Art, students will explore professional mediums and unique topics through in-depth portfolio creation. Students will be required to keep an art journal and/or portfolio. This course is available to students who have taken art in 6th or 7th grade, who have demonstrated advanced skills in art, and with teacher recommendation.

Visual Arts Level 3

This course offers the chance to create and explore many areas of art through different mediums, techniques and materials. A semester of Art 8 will provide students the opportunity to engage in both two dimensional and three dimensional projects. Areas of 2-D exploration may include; drawing, painting, fibers, mobiles, and set design.

Advanced Art 7/8
