Hi! I'm Mrs. Parson! This is my 20th year of teaching and my 19th year here at Swanson. My favorite thing about Swanson is the community. I enjoy getting to know my students and their families. I love the connections that I am able to make that last a lifetime.
I’m an Arvada native and the roots are deep. I went to Fitzmorris Elementary, Arvada Middle School, and Arvada West High School. My husband, Jason, and I are enjoying raising our “spicy” little girl Alexis who loves competitive swimming and is starting third grade here at Swanson. She fills our days with lots of smiles and non-stop laughter. I am an avid reader and gardener. We enjoy camping, going to Rockies games, and never miss a Mammoth (indoor lacrosse) game. We also have a dog named Jameson who thinks he owns the world.
My classroom is an active place where exploring and learning about ourselves is just as important as the content we are learning. I come to work each day looking forward to the moments when new things begin to "click" for my students. I am a lifelong learner myself and value being able to pass along the love of learning to all of my students.

Hello Swanson families,
This will be my second year here at Swanson, and I am so excited to be a part of this welcoming community. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from Metropolitan State University of Denver and have taught for many years in both Douglas County and most recently in DPS as a literacy interventionist.
I was born in Oklahoma and moved to Georgetown as a child and love all of the activities afforded to us here in Colorado. My favorites activities are reading, skiing, paddle boarding, hiking ,traveling, watching Netflix and most recently fly fishing. I have two wonderful sons and a sweet little dog named Maggie.
I have a passion for learning and consider myself always a student. I am looking forward to working alongside your students and getting to know all of your families. I look forward to the 25-26 school year and growing with your kids, and fostering relationships with families to support their learners. May the adventure begin teaching 4th grade!

Hi! I’m Ms. Ashcraft! I am Mrs. Parson’s student teacher this year. I am currently completing my degree in elementary education at MSU Denver and previously worked as an instructional para in Jeffco working with K-5 students for math intervention as well as substitute teaching.
While I am not a Colorado native, I’ve lived in Colorado for almost 12 years now, having moved here from Wichita, Kansas. When I’m not at school I love to spend time with family and my very sassy German Shepherd named Major. I like to cozy up to a good book and buy more books than I have time to read. I also love to crochet and bake too!
I hope to learn as much as I can in this year of student teaching before getting into a classroom of my own. Seeing the growth and progress everyone makes in a classroom and school each year not just academically but personally is a thrilling and rewarding sight to see, and I am delighted to be a part of it! I can’t wait to work with all of the wonderful members of the Swanson community and have a great year!
