Procedures

Daily Classroom Routines

Entering the classroom:

1. Walk in QUIETLY (finish your conversations BEFORE you enter the room)

2. Quietly SIT in your assigned seat

3. Read the Target and the “Warm Up”

4. Immediately begin on the “Warm Up”


When you come in late (without a pass):

1. Walk in Quietly.

2. Sign in on the “late” clipboard. You will be marked Tardy for Attendance.

3. If you are late 2 times in a month you will be warned.

4. After being late 3 times in a month a phone call home will be made.

5. If you are still chronically late to class, you will be referred to the office.


Using the restroom:

1. Use the Sign Language sign for bathroom

2. When you are signaled to go from the teacher, have your planner ready to be signed and then you may go to the bathroom. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PLANNER!!

3. When you return, quietly be seated.


“Handed in” assignments:

1. You must write your first and last name, period and your number. (You will be given a number the second week of school.)

2. Ripped and torn edges will not be accepted

3. Please use a PENCIL only. (You may use colored pencils or pens only for your own notes)

A pencil is a MUST for test/quizzes.


Pencils:

1. Sharpen your pencils before class begins

2. If you need to use the pencil sharpen during class, please use it during independent or group work time.

3. You may borrow a pencil during class. However, please return it before leaving class.


Quieting the class (getting YOUR attention):

1. The teacher will simply raise their hand

2. When you see my hand, you are to:

1. Pause

2. Be silent

3. Turn and face the teacher

4. Be ready for instruction (I have something important to say)

* When we are working in groups, I may turn off the lights to get your attention. Follow the same steps.


Emergency Procedures

Fire Drill

  1. Make sure to close all windows
  2. Quietly walk out of the classroom and turn LEFT out of the door. Exit the school using the double doors on the left side.
  3. Make sure to stand with your class to take accurate attendance.


Lock Out

1. Teacher closes and locks the door

2. Return to your classroom if you are out in the hall

3. Continue to work and class as usual

4. No one may be in the halls


Lock Down

1. Teacher closes and locks the door and turns off lights

2. If you are out in the hall get to the closest open room

3. In the class: sit on the floor in the front of the room as close to the wall as possible and remain silent. (Teacher will practice with you)
