Events/Field Trips

Our field trips align with fourth grade  Colorado History Standards.

Yearly Field Trips

Colorado State Capitol

In the spring, students will tour the Colorado State Capitol and see the Senate and House of Representatives in action!  We will visit Mr. Brown's Attic, a 2,000-square-foot history museum --  tucked between the Capitol's third floor and its dome.  If weather permits, we have the opportunity to climb the winding staircase to the top of the dome!

Packing the wagon!

Four-Mile Historic Park

In May we visit Four-Mile Historic Park. This was the last stop on the Cherokee Trail for settlers before making their grand entrance into Denver.  The park is  currently home to the oldest standing residential structure in the metropolitan area (built 1859).  Four Mile has remained mostly intact while the rest of the world changed and evolved around it. This is a  memorable, hands-on field trip!

Students panning for gold!

History Colorado Center

Golden History Museum

Building Colorado -  A 90-minute game-based lesson that combines economics and Colorado history.

Golden History Museum staff  come to our classrooms to present a 90-minute fast-paced, engaging,  game-based lesson that combines economics and Colorado history. Students must weigh choices and make decisions based on  opportunity cost, incentives, and risks to make the same choices that historic Colorado cities faced.
