Team Policies/Expectations:
24 Hour Rule
Parents/players sometimes disagree with a coach’s decision or coaching style. Parents/players have to understand that the coach does not represent a player, but the entire team and must make decisions from the team perspective first and foremost. For this reason, Ralston Valley Girls Lacrosse has adopted the “24 HOUR RULE”, which simply states that any coach will not discuss game situations until at least 24 hours after the game. This rule helps to move the discussion away from the presence of the players and allows all parties to have time to put things in perspective and “cool off” if necessary.

Communication
Communication is another important aspect of our lacrosse program. To help keep communication smooth and productive, there is a certain “chain of command” that we ask everyone to use. Players should be the ones to contact the head coaches with questions about anything related to on field issues. If the parents would like to be involved in a meeting, phone call, or email after the player has spoken with the coaches, that can be arranged. However, it is expected that all players are the ones who contact the coaches first. The coaches have over 30 girls to keep track of, if you are late, missing, etc, you are expected to email your coaches. Telling them in person is a great reminder! But you must email them, or they will likely forget.

Player Expectations
Athletes are expected to exhibit appropriate behaviors at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make our practices and games safe and enjoyable to all. Additional rules may be developed for the program and implemented as deemed necessary by coaching staff.
Athletes will:
1. Show respect to all teammates, captains, opponents, coaches, volunteers, and officials
2. Follow directions given by coaches, captains, and officials
3. Refrain from using foul language or inappropriate gestures
4. Refrain from causing purposeful harm to teammates and opponents
5. Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities
6. Refrain from bringing drama to the field, if there is a problem, let's solve it beforehand
7. Represent RVHS and RVHS Girls Lacrosse Program in an exemplary manner
8. Abide by the practice and game schedules set by coaches
9. Refrain from using cell phones during practices, unless there is an emergency
10. Be on time for all games and practices. If you show up at 4pm, you’re late
A good/positive attitude of athletes will be rewarded with more playing time or being part of the starting lineup, over an athlete who displays disrespectful characteristics.
*DRAMA AND BAD ATTITUDES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED*

Parent Expectations
Parents are expected to also exhibit appropriate behaviors at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make our practices and games safe and enjoyable to all. Additional rules may be developed for the program and implemented as deemed necessary by coaching staff.
Parents will:
1. Show respect to all players, opponents, coaches, volunteers, and officials
2. Trust that the coaches are doing their job and not step over them to "coach" their daughter against what we tell them
3. Refrain from using foul language or inappropriate gestures towards players, coaches, refs, or the other team.
4. NOT coach their daughter, or other players, from the sidelines/stands - Parents will only cheer on and encourage players (coaches can ask you to calm down or leave the stadium if you are causing a huge scene)
5. Show respect and abide by all rules developed by the coaching staff
6. Refrain from bringing drama to the field, if there is a problem, let's solve it beforehand
7. Represent RVHS and RVHS Girls Lacrosse Program in an exemplary manner
8. Encourage their daughter to communicate with the coaches first. Parents should NOT email us first!!!
9. Understand that the coaches are teaching your daughters more than just lacrosse, but also life lessons.
10. Parents doing photography, videography, and stats are prohibited from coaching/talking to ALL players during warmups and game time
*If a parent violates the above, on the first warning their daughter's playing time will be limited until the parent cools off. If a second warning is needed, the parent will be told to leave the field for the remainder of the game.*
______________________________________________________________________________
Consequences for violating the above
Coaches will give players/parents ONE VERBAL WARNING!!! On the second verbal warning for a player or parent, coaches will bench the player for the ENTIRE following game. This will happen if the athlete exhibits poor sportsmanship by way of negative attitudes, disrespect to coaches, captains, teammates, officials, opponents, etc., missing practices, showing up late to practice, not participating in drills at practice, and so on. Parents continuing to cause problems will be told to leave the field for the remainder of the current game. If issues seem to be reoccurring, parents and players can expect to have a sit down meeting with coaching staff and the athletic director to discuss further consequences.
