Theory & Songwriting

We study and practice pitch, rhythm, solfege, curwen hand signals, chordal analysis, different clefs and notation. The goal is to be able to sight-read music by graduation. Ear-training supplements the process.

For those interested in composition we offer a songwriting module to creatively express yourself through song and vocal writing.

Musical Theater & Art Songs

Individually, as small groups and in large ensemble we dive in to musical theater and art song repertoire to stretch our skills of connecting deeply to the music, the audience and ourselves.

Using diversity and inclusion as a bridge to different persons, countries, cultures and times enhances our perspective and citizenship as musicians.

Creative Choir &

A capella

We explore texture, timbre, tone, blend, melody, harmony, counterpoint, solos, duos and large scale work through different perspectives, performance modalities and approaches to stay current, fresh, and connected.

Those interested in going a step further can explore a capella and layering of many parts to create the sound of a fully accompanied song using only vocal techniques.

Covid-19 Adjustments

In this pandemic, we have made adjustments for safety of all students in vocal and theater arts, including:

  1. Masking, Social distancing and air filtration/room change

  2. Following guidelines of CDE & CDC for safe rehearsal & Performances according to Jeffco Risk level dials

  3. Using smaller ensembles as well as Video-taping, streaming or virtual options whenever needed
