Our Performing arts CTSO is called CPAC! Conifer Performing Arts Collaborative. We work with a community organization called MPAC, Mountain Performing Arts Collaborative, comprised of professional performing arts and visual arts groups located in Evergreen, Conifer, Pine and Bailey.
CPAC is an amazing experience, leadership opportunity, and lots of fun. If you love theater, songwriting, choir, glee club, improv, monologues, tech theater, or are just interested in the arts and want to be involved in anyway, CPAC is for you. We meet a once a month or more when shows are happing and direct and lead for all performing arts events and opportunities.
You've probably heard of groups like DECA and HOSA. They are CTSOs. CTSOs give CTE students additional opportunities outside of the classroom to grow and develop skills they will need within their chosen career paths.
These opportunities range from after-school activities and programs to competitive events where students demonstrate their skills.
Also, CTSOs give you ways to network with other students and industry partners to start building professional relationships.
Overall, being part of a CTSO can set you apart from those who aren’t members. Having membership listed on a resume can give someone a leg up over others when applying for a job, especially if you are in a leadership role in the organization!
We are part of the Arts, A/V, Technology and Communication umbrella. That's why your theater class is called communication & performance! However all types of visual arts and performing arts are included in this umbrella. Not only does CTE prepare you for the real world, and real jobs, it provides opportunities for study that are hands-on and experiential. It also connects you to industry in the community including local theaters, community colleges, and universities. If you think you might be involved in performing, tech theater, theater administration, directing, music performance, or vocal arts, in any way shape or form (even as a hobby or passion) as an adult CTE is for you!
