Technical Theater (formerly called Stagecraft) focuses on employing Collaboration, Teamwork/Group Dynamics, Production Concept, Application (Acting), Safety, Research, Vocabulary, Interdisciplinary Support & 21^st Century Skills.

This semester we are offering a CTE Stage Management Unit which includes an overview of all areas of tech theater including: effective communication, careers in theater, directing, managing, auditions, rehearsals, prep, sets/scenery, props, costumes, makeup, sound/lights, music, choreography, blocking, acting & final performances.

This semester we will be interviewing stage managers, student directors and tech crew positions of all types for our performances of original works, and improv troupe and the Spring Musical in late January. All CHS students as well as community members are encouraged to interview. Lead positions are PAID internships. Notices will be posted under "AUDITIONS."

Performance and Communication (formerly called Acting Performance) focuses on Collaboration, Teamwork/Group Dynamics, Feedback, Application (Acting), Technical Application, Theater History, Vocabulary, Evaluation & Interdisciplinary Support.

We develop skills in acting skills, vocal technique, spoken word, breathing, body awareness, energy, authenticity and connection through improv, monologues, scene work, creative design, creative writing, staged plays and musical theater.

Diversity and inclusion are a part of our program and learning from each other is encouraged.

This semester we will be auditioning playwrights, actors, directors and dancers to perform original works TBD and as an improv troupe in late January. All CHS student are encouraged to audition. Notices will be posted under "AUDITIONS."

Musical Theater adds another dimension to the skills required in theater arts with an emphasis on songs, arias, chorus, choreography, creative movement, traditional dance, song composition, lyrical expression, connecting body to voice, breath support, vocal technique, musical notation and ear-training. Those students serious about musical theater should take vocal arts or choir to supplement and build skills needed for musical theater.

This year we will offer a musical revue in November, as well as a spring musical in early March. All CHS students are encouraged to audition. Notices will be posted under "AUDITIONS."
