Senior families have turned in quite a few templates for display this coming Monday. If you or your senior did get yours turned in today, they can still get it dropped off, first thing Monday morning. If you would like to pick one up to complete this weekend, please text Shawna at 720-234-6861 for information about porch pickup.
Yearbook distribution took place on Wednesday during 5th block. Thank you to our yearbook staff for creating an awesome publication this year.
Any senior that did not pick their yearbook up, will have another opportunity to do so on Monday during cap and gown distribution.

Sign up for Credit Recovery is open!
Ralston Valley High School will be offering an opportunity for in-person summer school/credit recovery. This program will take place M-F from May 31st - June 10th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Students are required to attend the entire season or until they complete their required course. They will work through the online platform Edgenuity, and will have content-specific support from a teacher. Students/families should work with their counselor to determine if there is a need for summer school. Please review this informational sheet and use this form to sign up for summer school. The deadline for signing up is May 20th. If you have specific questions please contact your student's counselor.
Monday is a great evening where we get to come together to honor our amazing student-athletes for their accomplishments this year. Our Athletic Award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the large gym. Invitations for individuals receiving specific honors were sent this past week. We are asking for help to provide light snacks during the presentations. If you are attending and would be willing to contribute, please see our sign-up sheet here. Items can be brought when you arrive on Monday evening.
Already Region 5 Champions in tennis, the girls are smashing it at the State tournament. They are in 3rd place after the first two days of play. Thursday morning all six lines were victorious in the first round. The afternoon saw wins by Ally Lowe, Sammie Sedillo and Kylie Engelsman, as well as, Ralston Valley’s #3 doubles team of Zoey Prokopyschyn and Parker Lucas to advance to the quarterfinals.
On Friday Sammie and Kylie, played some great tennis; as did #4 doubles team of Drew Felderman and Alex Mabie, working their way back through the bracket and will continue tournament play on Saturday morning.
Saturday afternoon, Zoey Prokopyschyn and Parker Lucas will face off against Cherry Creek in the #3 doubles championship match. An amazing tournament for these hard working athletes.
The Boys Swim & Dive team swam well in prelims at the state meet this afternoon. Most boys are coming back for finals including Austin Metzler in the 500 free and Jake Sampson & Aiden Meyer in the 50 free. All three relays will be swimming in the finals Saturday afternoon including RV's 200 Medley team which is seeded in the top 10 of Austin Metzler, Jack Traut, Ashton Slattery and Jake Sampson.
The Jeffco league baseball tournament began this week and Thursday saw the Mustangs take it to A-West 12-1. Pitcher Kris Levensteins held the Wildcats to four hits and Markus Hamre had a grand slam to put the game away in the bottom of the fourth. We will know about CHSAA playoffs over the weekend.
Boys Lacrosse got a big win on senior day over Legend, then followed it up with a first round 17-5 playoff victory over Grand Junction Wednesday. The boys will play on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Kent Denver HS for the right to move on to the quarterfinals. Join us for some great Lacrosse action.
The girls soccer team ended their season Tuesday with a tight 2-3 loss to Rocky Mountain. So proud of this group who played some fantastic games this year.

Students took time this week to provide valuable feedback for future Advisement classes by completing a Student Survey. Positive feedback included lessons on healthy habits such as sleep and vaping, but students also shared that they would like more time to study, do homework, and learn HOW to study. All great feedback! There is no Advisement next week, and the final Advisement class will be Monday, May 23, and will be a study hall class, as students prepare for finals.
If 9th-grade students have surpassed the four absence limit and would like to make up any absences from this semester, we will have the last make-up session on Tuesday, 5/17, from 3:15 - 4:00 p.m. in room L1101.
Is your student searching for summer employment? Tell them to take a look at the Job Board in the Counseling Office! We often get information from companies asking us to post fliers about open positions, especially as summer draws near. We currently have over a dozen companies advertising positions from camp counseling to retail to food service and more.
Since 1949, Mental Health America has observed May as Mental Health Month. This year's theme is "Back to Basics" as, after the last two years of pandemic living, many people are realizing that stress, isolation, and uncertainty have taken a toll on their well-being. The Colorado Department of Human Services has established a temporary behavioral health services program to provide access to mental health services. I Matter can provide at least three free therapy sessions to youth 18 years of age and younger. The program expires 6-30-22. For more information and to schedule a session, click here.
Thursday Night, our Unified Theater Program showcased some of their many talents with their production of High School Musical. Congratulations to all of our actors on a great performance.
German I students enjoyed a German breakfast of fresh rolls, ham, cheese, jelly, and Nutella on Thursday. In order to be able to compare cultural aspects of breakfast in the US with breakfast in German-speaking countries, they had to first experience a German one!
Mrs. Walker's 3rd Block Honors Earth Science class used diffraction glasses to identify different elements by looking at Spectrum Tubes.
Chemistry students spent Thursday and Friday in tie-dye shirts that they made in class. Students had a great time and learned about chemical bonding.
Mrs. Reid's Honor Biology students got up close and personal as they conducted a chordate dissection.
Senior Engineering students, Naomi Paulson and Alta McVey partnered together with Engineering Advisor, Darin Spain (Ball Aerospace Engineering) to find a solution to the homeless problem and the "tent cities" in Denver. Their solution is to construct a small, collapsible, easy to set up, and cheap stand-alone protected room that homeless people can go to when the temperatures are too cold to withstand. Here they are following the presentation of their capstone project. A lot of creativity and brainpower went into this project.
Ms. Kulacz's students finished a big project this week in Baking and Pastry. Their goal: create a food truck concept that incorporates one of the baking techniques they learned this semester to wow the judges. They made menus, concept vehicles, and their staple dish. After the votes were counted, the Unlawful Waffle and their caramel apple waffle came out on top.
5A Jeffco League MVP's, Senior, Zach Friedman (LAX) and Freshman, Tanner Braketa (Basketball) join Athletic Director, Ryan Stadler at Mount Vernon Country Club for this morning's League MVP brunch and awards. All the Jeffco League MVP's were honored today. Great to see so many awesome scholar-athletes in Jeffco!
