🧡 Coaching Philosophy

At Lakewood Cheer & Poms, our coaching philosophy is built around the belief that “We Are Family.”

We coach with the understanding that every athlete belongs, every voice matters, and every practice is a chance to grow — not only as performers, but as people. Our goal is to develop confident, compassionate leaders who represent Lakewood High School with pride, integrity, and heart.

We believe in hard work, accountability, and teamwork — but also in laughter, encouragement, and celebrating one another’s wins. Success isn’t measured only in trophies or titles, but in how we support each other, overcome challenges, and lead with spirit on and off the floor.

LHS coaching staff is built on the philosophy of T-I-G-E-R-S: Teamwork, Inclusion, Grit, Excellence, Respect and Service.

About Kellie

"I am in my 31st year of teaching at the elementary school level and my 17th year of coaching the Lakewood Cheer/Poms Squad at Lakewood. My roots run deep in the Lakewood community having began my cheer career at Creighton MS as a freshmen, continuing to cheer at Lakewood HS, and then moving on to cheer at the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to my current coaching stint with my daughter, Britney, I coached the Lakewood Squad with my mom for 8 years in the early 90's.

We have embodied the Lakewood Spirit of "We Are Family" for multiple generations.

My goals as a coach are to teach our young athletes cheer skills, but more importantly life-long skills including accountability, team-work, and a strong work ethic. We strive to help each of our athletes reach their highest potential as they support the varoius other programs at Lakewood with Tiger Pride!"

Meet Britney

"I’ve spent the past decade teaching and 13 years coaching, helping students and athletes grow in confidence, skill, and character. As a mom of two girls and a lifelong learner myself, I believe in leading with empathy and enthusiasm.

My background includes 20 years of dance experience—both in studio and at the college level. As a former Lakewood High School cheerleader, it’s a joy to continue my journey here guiding the next generation in the same halls that inspired me.

Lakewood isn’t just a school; it’s home. We are family. Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger."
