Kyffin Elementary has a Social Worker and a Gifted & Talented Counselor/ Social Emotional Learning Specialist. Kyffin students receive social and emotional support through whole class lessons with Second Step and other SEL resources including Brain Wise. Kyffin students have access to the mental health support as needed and can receive short term social/emotional guidance to support them as it relates to their education. This support could be in small groups or individually.

Description of Social Emotional Support Positions:
School Social Workers provide direct and consultative supports and services for students with social, emotional, and behavioral health needs to improve education outcomes. They can provide social/emotional assessment, intervention, and crisis response supports and information regarding community resources.
Social Emotional Learning Specialists are mental health professionals who support school-based implementation of positive school climate and culture, provide direct instruction in social emotional learning, and direct supports to students.
Gifted and Talented Social Emotional Learning Counselors provide counseling support to gifted students. They provide classroom instruction, small group interventions, and brief individual counseling support within the GT Center.
