Melissé Segesman has been serving the Montessori Peaks Homeschool Community since 2014. She has taught Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In addition, she has taught primary, art, PE, 4th-6th grade, run an aftercare program, and 1st-3rd remote students. She received her Montessori certification in 2010 and has a bachelors in elementary education. She has three children and a 2 grandchildren that live here in Colorado.

When not at school, Melissé enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, painting, and pretty much anything to do with yarn. She loves learning new things through reading, taking classes and trying new experiences. She’s a constructivist at heart who is particularly interested in inclusivity, the Arts and Sciences.

The Montessori philosophy fits well with Melissé’s educational leanings in that it follows the child and meets them where they are at. It also fosters inclusion,  encourages community and develops leadership through the use of multi- age classes.

“I think that Montessori is a great environment for children. What I love most about working with home school students is their individuality. Each student comes with a unique set of knowledge and experiences that bring the classroom to life. I love being able to explore with the students and grow with them.” ~ Melissé

I am a Colorado native and went to Jeffco schools as a child.  I graduated from Tabor College with a BA in Biology with a teaching emphasis.  Since then I have split my time between teaching and raising my three children. I started at MPA as a parent when my children attended as students.  After they all graduated I became an assistant. The next year I completed my Montessori training and became the lead in an upper el classroom.  Now, I have been teaching at MPA since 2011. When I became a grandmother and wanted to spend more time at home with my sweet boy. To make this possible I decided to transfer to the homeschool program in 2021. I am excited to meet the students and work in this great program.
