BUILD is a unique program Brady High School offers to our students to prepare them for the workforce or higher education before they graduate. As a Project Based Learning school, we encourage all of our students to graduate when they are ready, which includes having work ready skills and a deep understanding of professionalism and responsibility. The mission of BUILD is to provide our students with the tools they need for stability and success.
The BUILD program is a comprehensive, for-credit program, designed so all of our BUILD students will emerge ready to take on the responsibility required to succeed in the workforce. Students selected for the BUILD Program are required to complete boot camp, where they learn work-ready skills and are also matched to a partner in a career of their choice. After successfully completing boot camp, the interns complete a 50 hour internship with their partner, and then present what they've learned during their internships at the BUILD Summit.
At the end of the semester, all BUILD students are required to present to the school during the BUILD Summit. This is a presentation to wrap up and what the students have learned about their careers and themselves, and also demonstrate something from their internship in an interactive activity.
Students who excel in their first semester of BUILD could be given the option to extend their internship full time into the next semester. This is by invitation only. BUILD apprentices take what they've learned in their internships to the next level by spending 20 hours a week in the workplace for a full semester. They must be able to independently study with teachers while spending half their week in the workplace.
