Class Policies

Classroom Expectations

In addition to all Deer Creek rules and expectations, students are expected to

#Be respectful

#Be kind

#Be responsible

#Be helpful

#Be brave

Gum and Water Bottles

Gum may be chewed in class AS LONG AS students are responsible with the gum and wrappers. If the gum cannot be seen, heard, or smelled, then it is okay!

Students are encouraged to bring water bottles! Other liquids besides water are not to be out of the cafeteria and therefore are not to be in class.

Standards Based Grading

Deer Creek has a standards-based grading system of 4-3-2-1 with 4 being advanced, 3 proficient, 2 partially proficient, and 1 unsatisfactory. There is also 'work habits' grade book that focuses on work completion and meeting classroom expectations such as having daily supplies, turning in quality work on time and participating in class activities.

Student Proficiency Policy

As a Deer Creek policy, students must be proficient on summative assessments to demonstrate understanding of the concepts. For students below the 3 proficiency mark, teachers will provide opportunities for students to demonstrate proficiency. Information for each proficiency opportunity will be discussed in class and announced electronically.

Late Work Policy

All work is expected to be turned in on the due date by the due time. Work submitted after the due time is late. As a Deer Creek policy, late work specific to the content grade will be accepted until the unit assessment with no academic penalty. Work will be marked late, but the lateness will not affect the academic grade. Late work in the work habits section will be affected.

Since Deer Creek is standards-based, extra credit is not offered in classes.
