Childhood
I was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I was always on the go playing sports, doing stunts on my bike, building forts in the woods, pretending to be Evel Knievel, or playing with my Star Wars characters. I was a true tomboy! I was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Dallas Cowboys. I became a huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts after the Colts moved to Indy in 1984.
Education
After graduating high school, I received my BA in biology from Hanover College; Hanover is a small, liberal arts school located in Southern Indiana along the Ohio River. After graduation, I attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana to get my teaching certificate. I received my Master's degree in education from Walden University in 2007.
Teaching Career
I began my teaching career in Indiana teaching 6th grade science at Northview Middle School in Indianapolis in 1995. I moved to Colorado in the summer of 2000 and have been teaching 7th grade science at Deer Creek ever since. This is my 21st year at Deer Creek and my 26th year overall!

Hobbies
In my free time I enjoy watching movies, cooking and baking, paddleboarding, mountain biking, boating, traveling, and just relaxing on the deck. We typically spend several weeks each summer at a cabin on a lake in Ontario, Canada where we can relax and enjoy the water.
Fur Babies
We have a cat named Phoenix and a Bernese Mountain Dog named Kodiak. Phoenix is 15 years old and Kodiak will be 1 at the end of August. The two brothers tolerate each other very well, but Phoenix prefers to lounge and hunt chipmunks instead of playing with his brother; Kodiak would prefer for Phoenix to be more playful, but he will take what he can get!
