Link Leaders are upperclassman who dedicate their time and kindness to help freshman students during their first year of high school. They run the Freshman Orientation Day, meet in small groups with students to check in throughout the year, and host freshman & Link Leader only social events (Cocoa & Cram, Homecoming Tailgate, etc.).
They worked hard in the month of May (some even coming back after they had graduated/finished finals!) to provide some resources for our incoming freshman. There are recorded Q & A panels AND written answers to some frequently asked questions. Check those out under the 'FAQ' tab. Link Leaders also put together a High School 101 Video that is under the 'Helpful Info' tab.
LHS understands the importance of freshman year and how this transition transition can be an exciting but nerve-racking one. We understand so much that we are 1 of 2 high school's in Jeffco district that has a Freshman Transition Counselor. Kelly Lemos's (formally Kelly Layer) main responsibility is to support freshman students and families with the journey of starting high school and throughout their freshman year.
Kelly Lemos will be on maternity leave for the 2021 Fall semester. However, the position of freshman transition counselor will be still alive and active! Kelly's sub, Julie Federico will be a huge support in your student's transition to high school.
