Since of Covid-19 the book fair has been canceled but there will hopefully be one during March. We are back in school, five days a week. Most people already know there was a contest, where students and teachers could take a picture of their pet reading a book and submit it. You can vote for who’s pet you think is the funniest and the best! There will be three winners! I will be announcing the three winners. The three winners are Mrs. Irvine, Amirra Holmes, and Ava York! Congrats to the winners! And that’s all for the news of Summit Scoop!

WELCOME BACK! I know the break was fun but now we have to learn, back to “what’s the opposite of -38” and stuff. I hope you didn’t forget how to divide fractions and stuff. Also, after a long “few” weeks at home, mr. Schultz class finally gets to swim. Yay! The semester ends this Friday so get smart and don’t lose your report cards. Now, ending on a good note, parent teacher conferences are in March so you don't have to worry about zooms with your teacher for a little while.

I want to start off by asking our school nurse some questions about COVID-19.
Alexa : If the COVID vaccine means everything could go back to normal, would you take it?
Mrs. Dalbey : I am scheduled to receive the vaccine next Wednesday and am excited to get it. I hope that everyone will get the vaccine or at least enough to reach herd immunity.
Alexa : How has COVID impacted your job here at summit?
Mrs. Dalbey :My job here at Summit has been greatly impacted by Covid. I see lots of students with minor symptoms with headaches, stomachaches, minor cough, and sore throat. Before Covid, I would let the student rest in my office, give them a cough drop, or administer over the counter medication to help them feel better. Now I have to assume that the minor symptoms could be Covid.
Alexa : how have you made sure your safe when doing your job?
Mrs. Dalbey : I wear a mask everywhere I go, and I wash my hands and use hand sanitizer a lot. When I am out of my office, I try to remember to wear goggles as well as a face mask to ensure that I do not contract Covid through the mucous membranes in my eyes. Rather than have students just come to my office, I have teachers call me. This avoids a line of students in my office. When I get home, I immediately wash what I was wearing that day and shower to remove any germs on my skin.
Thank you for answering my questions! Another thing that has recently happened is coming back full time, I really hope everyone has had a really good couple weeks or two back! Hopefully COVID numbers stay low so we can stay full time or possibly go hybrid. Also, the COVID vaccine arrived not so long ago. Have you had a relative get the COVID vaccine? Hopefully 2021 will be way better than 2020, but who knows… But even if this is going to be a bad year hopefully summit and everyone around you can turn that around. A simple smile will make someone’s day! Here’s my question for you? What’s your resolution? Maybe talk about it with a friend.
