Georgia Milestones💻
📝 Georgia Milestones: Testing Starts Next Week!
We are excited to see our students shine on the Georgia Milestones Assessments! To give your child the best environment for success, we need your help ensuring they arrive on time.
🕗 Important Morning Times
7:40 AM: The tardy bell rings.
8:00 AM: Testing begins.
Please Note: We must follow the timing guidelines provided to us by the state. Any student arriving after testing has started will be unable to enter the room and must take a make-up test later.
🎯 Our Goal: Zero Tardies!
Taking the test with their regular class is the best way for students to feel comfortable and confident. Let's work together to get everyone here and settled before the 7:40 AM bell!
Thank you for your support in making this a successful week for our students!

We are thrilled to announce all JCSS schools are adopting the Raptor Safe mobile application as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety, while streamlining visitor management check-in at our schools. The Raptor Safe app builds upon existing visitor procedures, offering a more convenient and secure check-in process for visitors.
What is the Raptor Safe App?
The Raptor Safe app offers a convenient and secure way for visitors to manage and verify their identity before arriving at a school. With the Raptor Passport feature, visitors can pre-verify their identity, allowing for a seamless sign-in process when they arrive on campus.
How Does It Work?
When visiting a school, visitors can use their secure QR code generated by the app to expedite the check-in process. QR codes automatically regenerate every 5 minutes to ensure security and prevent misuse.
Getting Started
⭐Student Success Spotlight⭐
Hello Parents!
This month we have finished our safety lessons talking about Bullying & Digital Dangers.
We have encouraged students if they see someone being mean to another student to be an upstander & tell a safe adult.
We have also encouraged students to use the golden rule: if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all!
Please talk with your student at home about the importance of being kind and uplifting others!

Infinite Campus and Parent Square📱
It is VERY IMPORTANT for all families to set up an Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account. Click HERE to set up your child's account. This account allows you to receive important school messages through the Parent Square app, see student grades and attendance. If you have trouble with this process, email Mrs. West (rebecca.west@jcss.us). After a parent portal account has been activated, please allow 24 hours for the information to sync with the Parent Square app to be able to message teachers. If you are unable to use Parent Square at any time, please send your child's teacher an email.

STEAM in MOTION⚙️
Our first graders turned into "Produce Pros" this week during an exciting field trip to Publix! As part of their yearlong Project-Based Learning (PBL) journey, students went behind the scenes to explore the Produce Department, learning the "how" and "why" behind where our favorite fruits and vegetables are placed.
The excitement didn't end at the store! Back at school, the culinary fun continued as Mrs. Ileta taught the classes how to make fresh guacamole. Every student got hands-on experience prepping their own dish using fresh ingredients, followed by a very successful (and delicious!) taste test.
Using what they learned on the tour, students are now busy designing informational graphics for the specific vegetables they've been studying. Keep an eye out during your next grocery run—our students’ custom signs will soon be on display at Publix to help shoppers learn while they shop!
PBIS🛡️
Parents, as a PBIS school, we strive to create a positive learning environment for all our students and staff. We utilize a schoolwide approach to teach, model, and reinforce positive behaviors, actions, and words. Here at WJES, we use the PAWS framework: Pride, Attitude, Work, and Safety. Through classroom lessons, videos, and activities, we explain what Pride, Attitude, Work, and Safety should look and sound like throughout our school building. Our PAWS matrix is displayed around the school and in classrooms. Why PBIS? Why PAWS? They help provide clear expectations for our students, establish a common language for everyone, and foster a positive school culture.
Every day, our students are recognized for demonstrating PAWS in the hallways, classrooms, lunchroom, playground, and even on the bus! Student recognition can be verbal, visual, or tangible. Students may be recognized through verbal praise, a high five, DOJO/PBIS points or tickets, student of the month awards, Mindset student of the month awards, or even with a gold coin for the book vending machine.
