Here Comes The Bus

Here Comes The Bus is a mobile application implemented by our school system during the 2023-24 school year. Here Comes The Bus allows families to see their student(s) school bus through GPS tracking. Families can be notified of when the school bus is within a certain radius of their home so they know in real-time when the bus is approaching, both in the morning and afternoon. Additionally, families can see when the bus has safely arrived at the school. Families can learn more about the application by visiting www.jacksonschoolsga.org/herecomesthebus.

Free & Reduced Meals Application

Families are encouraged to fill out a Free and Reduced Meal Application by visiting the JCSS website. Filling out a Free and Reduced Meal Application does not guarantee approval, however families who are approved will not be required to pay for any meals throughout the year. The State of Georgia is covering the cost associated with reduced meals, so all students approved through the Free and Reduced Application will eat free for the entire 2024-25 school year.

Celebrating a Great Start to the School Year!

We’re thrilled with how smoothly everything has gone since the start of the new school year at Jackson County High School. Our students and staff have jumped right in with enthusiasm, setting a positive tone for the year.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and confident that this will be a productive and rewarding year. A big thank you to everyone for making the start of school so successful. Let’s keep the positive energy going!

Jackson County High School Work-Based Learning

Ten students participated in our summer work-based learning program from May 27th to July 19th, collectively working around 1,971 hours, earning nearly $28,000, and receiving class credits. This program is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience while earning money.

Madison Ming, a second-year WBL student, is leading the way at BM&K Construction & Engineering. Last year, she was an architecture apprentice in the WBL program, which secured her top engineering placement with BM&K. Currently, Madison is working on a project to widen a road and address traffic flow and parking issues in the growing district of Houston, GA. Pictured with Madison is Elias, a JCSS graduate and third-year University of Georgia student, who has been interning at BM&K since high school.
