Dear South Jackson Families,
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces at Glow Time: Back to School Bash! We hope you enjoyed learning about all the amazing things our students will accomplish this year and left just as excited as we are for the adventure ahead.
We also want to give a huge thank you to everyone who joined our PTO meeting. Your partnership helps us create the very best experiences for our students, and we are so grateful for the fantastic efforts of our supportive members. Together, we are making a big difference!
As we head into the three-day weekend, we hope you’ll take time to rest, have fun, and dive into some of the great books you picked up from the Book Fair. Our Eagles have already made incredible growth in just the first month of school, and we can’t wait to celebrate even more when we see them back next week!
With gratitude,
Your South Jackson Administrative Team
Just a friendly reminder for our Eagle families—there’s no need to line up early for car rider pickup. Our line moves quickly and efficiently, taking only about 20 minutes from start to finish. Car rider dismissal begins at 2:40 and ends at 2:55. Arriving too early can block the school entrance, so we appreciate your help in keeping the process safe and smooth for all.
Safety is our top priority during arrival and dismissal. Help everyone stay on time and out of harm's way by following our trusty eagle timeline and car rider protocols. Staff will be on hand at the front of the school every day from 7:00-7:35 and 2:35-2:55 to ensure student safety.
South Jackson is proud to announce our Teacher of the Year and Support Person of the Year, and they’re both our amazing PE coaches!
Every day, they bring energy, encouragement, and a love for movement to our Eagles, showing students that health and fitness can be fun. From games in the gym to lessons on teamwork and perseverance, their enthusiasm inspires our kids to be active, confident, and joyful.
Congratulations to our dynamic duo; you keep our Eagles soaring strong!
The SJ Reading Challenge is officially underway! Our Eagles are teaming up with the Athens Rock Lobsters in the Rocking & Reading Program to log 1,000 minutes of reading by December 17th. Students who reach their goal will earn a FREE Rock Lobsters game ticket!
Don't miss a special visit with Clawdius, mascot of the Athens Rock Lobsters, at our Back to School Bash on August 28th from 5:00-6:00 PM!
Claws Up, and let’s get reading, Eagles!
The Jackson County School System will once again be participating in the annual Bus Safety Poster Contest sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education. Interested students should contact their school's art teacher for more information!
This Monday, we will kick off our SchoolStore program to help our school raise money. A lanyard with information explaining how the program works will be sent home with your student. Inside, you’ll find details about a safe and easy way your family can help our school with proceeds used for teacher incentives.
Your student will earn a participation prize when they return the completed lanyard to school, and they can earn even more great prizes when your family and friends join in to help!
Remember, this Monday is the day! Don’t forget to send the completed lanyard back, and thank you for supporting South Jackson Elementary!
