Grading INformation
Student scores and grades can be viewed on Infinite Campus.
If you need help logging into your account, please contact Mrs. Foelske at liz.foelske@janesvilleschools.net
Parents are able to get email notifications from Infinite Campus anytime a grade book is updated. If you would like this feature turned on, you can do so in the settings.
Google Classroom Alerts
Most Janesville teachers post assignments to Google Classroom. If parents would like to get notifications from Google Classroom for information such as late assignments and do not already get them, any middle school teacher or Mrs. Foelske can send an invitation for that access. Once you are connected to one Google Classroom for your student, you will be connected to all Google Classrooms in which they are enrolled.

Reassessing
Students will still receive a score for each standard in the gradebook and not an overall class grade. Multiple opportunities to demonstrate understanding of classroom standards will still be provided to students through the process of reassessing. Reassessment practices and initiation may look a little different in each classroom based on the specific needs in the class/subject area. Below you will find a description of how reassessment will be handled for each subject area.
Students will have the opportunity to reassess frequently.
A parent signature will be required on the first assessment to allow for reassessing. A parent signature is to ensure students have spent time studying outside of class.
If a student has not reassessed within 2 weeks of the original assessment date, their first assessment score will remain as is in the gradebook.
Math, Reading, and Social Studies: Reassessments will be on Thursdays during Wildcat Time. Students will be notified multiple days in advance, and a parent signature will be required on the test to indicate the parent is aware that their child spent additional time outside of class preparing for the reassessment. If students miss the reassessment date or forget a parent signature, it will be their responsibility to schedule a make-up reassessment.
Science: In Science, reassessments will be given on a scheduled date and will happen during class time. Students will be notified multiple days in advance, and a parent signature will be required on the test to indicate the parent is aware that their child spent additional time outside of class preparing for the reassessment. If students miss the reassessment date or forget a parent signature, it will be their responsibility to schedule a make-up reassessment, during Academic Support in Room 115 (see weekly announcements for ASC dates/times). Students will need to communicate with Mrs. Friedrich the date they would like to reassess during ASC so she can send the test to Room 115 on the appropriate date.
Writing: In writing, Mrs. Osborn will hold individual conferences with each student, sharing comments and feedback on their published writing piece. After an individual conference, students will have TWO WEEKS to make revisions. Students can work on revisions independently outside of class, ASC in Room 115 (please see weekly announcements for ASC dates/times), or a day will be provided IN CLASS if needed for students to receive additional support from Mrs. Osborn. They will be responsible for communicating with Mrs. Osborn when all revisions are made. After the two-week point, Mrs. Osborn will regrade their revised published writing piece.
Eligibility Policy
Grade checks will be conducted every two weeks or as dictated by the athletic director to accommodate the uniqueness of the school calendar.
Students will need to have their reassessments and missing work turned in by Monday at 3:00pm.
Teachers will submit their list of ineligible students to the athletic director by Tuesday at 3:00pm.
Students will become ineligible on Wednesday.
Athletic director will communicate with those ineligible
If a student has 3 or more scores of “1” in the gradebook for two or more classes, they will be placed on the ineligibility list.
If a student has 3 or more MISSING assignments for two or more classes, they will be placed on the ineligibility list.
If a student has an "in-progress" score of a "1" for any class, they will be placed on the ineligibility list.
