Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Lessons
Unit One - Session One
Students spend time thinking about how families are alike and different. They also discuss the importance of businesses in a neighborhood and why families may start a business together. At the end of the session, students learn how to make their own bubbles using common household products.

Unit One - Session Two
Students begin describing people’s needs and wants and how they are different from one another. They also begin to understand how families work together to pay for those items and services. Throughout the session, students learn about thrifting as an alternative way to shopping for the things they need and want.

Unit One - Session Three
This session focuses on the importance of businesses in a neighborhood and the goods and services they provide to the local community. Students learn how their needs and wants create opportunities for people to start businesses in their neighborhood. At the end of the session, Dr. Jenkins and Mrs. Olds show us how to create a yummy treat at home.

Unit One - Session Four
Students begin learning about different jobs people do in a neighborhood. They also have the opportunity to look at their own skills and talents to see how they can support their family members at home. At the end of the session, Dr. Jenkins demonstrates how to make a T-shirt with a unique design.

Unit One - Session Five
Students learn about the importance of advertising for a business. They also begin to think about the traits of entrepreneurs and how entrepreneurial traits can help grow a business. At the end of the session, students learn how to make a thirst-quenching treat.
