During 2025, we focused our efforts on maintaining our spaces and programming, all through the generous support of the George E Archer Foundation.
In April of 2025 we had an event celebrating flowers! We have a few flower crafts for the children and we taught proper planting and mulching techniques. As part of the program, we planted a variety of perennials in the gardens in spots where the original plants did not make it, and we worked on mulching the garden!
As in previous years, all the first graders from Grandview Elementary School received programming on seeds (parts and dispersal), plant parts, and how to plant seeds and plants. Unfortunately, our originally planned field trip day was stormy, so we switched gears - the Outdoor Learning Lab visited Grandview! We did our seed, plant parts, and planting seed lessons at the elementary school. At a later date, the first graders visited us at the garden to plant flowers, hike in the woods, and explore our space!
In 2025, we offered a number of short term programs for the community, including a program on owls (we disected owl pellets!) and animal tracking, where we learned to ID animal tracks and scat, then tracked down a deer! Unfortunately, the rains prevented us from being outside for either program, but we did catch that pesky deer that had snuck into the building (ha ha)!
