Awards and Honors
The Sierra Vista bands and orchestras have earned an Excellent rating five times and a Superior rating more than 60 times in festival performances, including a 18-year streak of Unanimous Superior ratings by our Chamber Orchestra.
The Sierra Vista participated in the National Band and Orchestra Festival at Carnegie Hall, New York in 2023
The Sierra Vista Chamber Orchestra was the only middle school orchestra invited to perform at the 2013 California All-State Music Educator's Conference.
In 2020, the Sierra Vista Jazz Ensemble was invited to perform at the Monterey Jazz Next Generation Festival. One of only five middle schools invited to do so.
The Sierra Vista Symphonic Orchestra was the demonstration ensemble on a session on intonation for the SCSBOA Music Teachers Conference.
Every year, Sierra Vista is well represented at the District, All-Southern California and All-State Honor Ensembles including several principal players.
2016 student Kevin earned Second Prize, the Junior Audience Prize, and the Jonathan Mould Award for Outstanding Potential at the prestigious Menuhin Violin Competition in London.
The Sierra Vista Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo have earned first place seven out of the last eight appearances at the Irvine High School Jazz Festival, including multiple soloist and section awards.
The Irvine Unified School District has been named by NAMM (the National Association of Music Merchants) as a "Best Community for Music Education" every year since 2013.
Students leave Sierra Vista to attend Northwood High School, a seven-time Grammy Award winning music program.
