What is an Elementary Resource Counselor (ERC)?

The Elementary Resource Counseling Specialist (ERC) promotes social-emotional and mental health & wellness for all students at Stonegate Elementary. In addition, ERC's also provide short term 1:1 and/or small group counseling for students who may benefit from more specialized attention. Students are offered voluntary services that can attend to challenges such as conflict, behavior, school adjustment issues, stress, family change, grief, fears, or difficulties with relationships. ERCs are also here to provide resource linkage for families to further wrap around support for students.

ERC Services: Proactive and Responsive

Your child might want to see an ERC when:

  • They want to learn and practice life skills like self-awareness, self-management, and social-awareness.

  • There is a big change in their life (such as... parents' divorce/changing families, moving to a new school, or the death of their pet or loved one).

  • They feel unsafe, increased stress, anxiety, loneliness, or low motivation at school or at home.

  • They have a hard time solving a problem related to school, friends, or home.

  • They need someone to listen to about something important.

  • They are having strong emotions or feelings.
