Ms. Lau begins her tenth year of teaching with Beacon Park after teaching years of second, fourth, and currently, fifth grade. Prior to being part of the Bangle family, she taught for many years at Tarbut V’ Torah, a private Jewish Community Day School in Irvine where she served as Grade Level Team lead and Student Council Advisor. Prior to that, she moved from Northern California (Bay Area) where she was a dual immersion Mandarin and English teacher for 2nd grade. A bilingual speaker in both Mandarin and Cantonese, Ms. Lau graduated from University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minor in Education. She received her Master of Arts in Education from UCI as well and also holds a supplemental credential in music instruction and is also a GATE teacher. She was born and raised in Southern California and started her career in missionary work in the countries of Mexico, China, and Serbia where she taught students English and music.
In her free time, Ms. Lau loves hiking, playing her flute and piccolo, tumbling with puppies, scavenging for the best vegan food, and taking Pilates & mega-reformer workout classes. Her favorite food is sushi (vegan, of course) and on the weekends, you can most easily find her at a farmers market or paddle boarding (if there's sunshine).
