Reading is an essential life skill and something we hope to cultivate passion for in our students in Second Grade. We encourage students and parents to engage in a variety of reading activities with a wide range of texts (mostly chosen by the students though, because choice is important!). Why is reading so important? See for yourself!
Don't forget to have your student answer a nightly comprehension question of their choice in their homework folder, as well as practice their math facts!

“For students in the earliest grades, it should foster positive attitudes, habits, and character traits; permit appropriate parent involvement; and reinforce learning of simple skills introduced in class.”
“The effects of regularly skipping that reading homework can have long-term effect on a child’s life.”
