What is the SaS Consideration Toolkit?

The SaS Consideration Toolkit is a structured and facilitated process to analyze the instructional, physical, and social environment of a general education classroom from the perspective of an individual student.

Why do teams complete the SaS Toolkit process?

The intended outcome of using this tool is to identify a list of environmentally-referenced SaS to enhance participation and learning for a student with a disability in the general education classroom.

When do teams use the SaS Toolkit meeting?

SaS Consideration Toolkit Meetings are not for use with every student all the time.

Meetings are generally requested during a few particular instances:

• when discussing placement options for a student

• prior to a major transition (grade to grade or building to building)

• when team has exhausted current ideas and the student is struggling.

How do I schedule a SaS Toolkit Meeting?

• The first step in scheduling a meeting is to talk with the special education director at your local school district. If they do not have a Toolkit facilitator within the district, they will contact the IU29 to schedule someone to assist with the process.
