The SaS Consideration Toolkit is a structured and facilitated process to analyze the instructional, physical, and social environment of a general education classroom from the perspective of an individual student.
The intended outcome of using this tool is to identify a list of environmentally-referenced SaS to enhance participation and learning for a student with a disability in the general education classroom.
SaS Consideration Toolkit Meetings are not for use with every student all the time.
Meetings are generally requested during a few particular instances:
when discussing placement options for a student
prior to a major transition (grade to grade or building to building)
when team has exhausted current ideas and the student is struggling.
The first step in scheduling a meeting is to talk with the special education director at your local school district. If they do not have a Toolkit facilitator within the district, they will contact the IU29 to schedule someone to assist with the process.
