Volunteer Tutors/Substitute Tutors
This is the most rewarding way to get involved at ACLC. This position requires a commitment of about 5 hours per week plus initial and ongoing training so that we can provide the best service for our students. Per the PA Dept. of Education, all tutors must have a Bachelor's Degree in any area.
Co-Tutors/ Classroom Aides
Co-Tutors and Classroom Aides can work in either a tutor group or as an assistant to a larger group with an instructor. A high school diploma (or equivalency) is required for this position.
Community Class Instructor or Presenter
Our goal is to help not only our students, but the Adams County Community as a whole. People who would like to get involved in instructing short term community projects (ex. leading monthly basic computer and internet skills, teaching job interviewing or life skills seminars, etc.) would only need a H.S. diploma and a working knowledge of the subject they are seeking to assist us with.
ESL/ELL Conversation Group Mediator
Those interested in supporting students and community members who want to practice and improve their English speaking abilities only need a High School diploma and 2 free hours per week.
