LIU12 ACLC serves adult residents of Adams County, PA who are 18 and older and in need of Adult Basic Education and/or English Language Learning services. Our volunteer tutors meet with enrolled learners in small groups or one-on-one at no cost to participants.
LIU12 ACLC also offers community events to the public in collaboration with other community agencies.

Contact the LIU12 ACLC to register for and complete one of our monthly Intake and Orientation sessions and complete an initial Skill Assessment
After this step is completed, participants will be placed in a group or pair that best meets their skill level and schedule.
Please note: Only adults who have REGISTERED for an Intake and Orientation session will be served. If a friend or family member would like to enroll, they must register for a session in advance. Anyone showing up for an Intake and Orientation session who has not pre-registered will have to register for the next available session.
IMPORTANT: Children should not be brought to Intake, Orientation, Assessments and are not permitted in group or pair sessions once a participant has enrolled.
For those who have a goal of getting their High School Equivalency Diploma, but need additional strengthening in these skills, our Basic Education groups may be their first step toward success. Basic reading and math skills are important for those seeking to obtain and/or improve employment, training, or educational goals. In addition to reading and math, other topics and skills that may also be included in instruction may be:
digital, health, and financial literacy
history
science
other subjects as determined by LIU12 ACLC Coordinators and volunteer tutors.
Instruction may be provided in face-to-face, online, or blended formats.
English language skills are important for those seeking to obtain and/or improve employment, training, or educational goals. English language learners are supported in small groups designed to support them at the skill level they need. Reading, writing, speaking and listening in English are the focus of instruction. Outside practice of these skills is highly encouraged to support the development of English language proficiency.
Other topics may also be included in instruction - topics like: life and soft skills; digital, health, and financial literacy; math, science; and others subjects as determined by LIU12 ACLC Coordinators and volunteer tutors.
