Short Description:
Planet Bee Foundation is a 501(c)(3) environmental education nonprofit on a mission to change the world one bee and one mind at a time! Since 2010, we’ve served over 200,000 learners across North America. We’ve used the humble bee, whose population health is indicative of the well-being of our planet, to craft learning experiences that inspire young minds to imagine themselves as environmental stewards, scientists, and engineers. We pride ourselves on our efforts to develop a green-minded generation through the power of science, stewardship and conservation.
Our programs are always provided to schools and nonprofits at NO COST, preventing any barrier for inclusion in our dedication to equity and accessibility. We actively seek a diverse array of partnerships and people, in an effort to foster this love of environmental stewardship in everyone! Across PA, MD, WV, and VI we are grateful to be able to continue this work through our sponsorship from The GIANT Company.
Our Environmental STEM Education Program is ever-expanding, with new interdisciplinary content added every year! We provide everything from synchronous virtual lessons, to asynchronous digital toolkits, to hands-on stewardship and material grants. All of Planet Bee’s materials can be differentiated to be developmentally appropriate for all grade levels, and align perfectly with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Common Core Standards. We’re also proud to be content leaders for the PA STEELS standards, as we are uniquely qualified to incorporate Environmental and Agricultural Science in all of the content or learning tools we provide. For detailed descriptions of each of our programs, please visit our website or register for more information about our virtual lessons and digital toolkits here.
Our program offerings extend to tangible stewardship and hands-on learning experiences through material grants for the 2023-2024 school year. Teachers and schools can apply for these grants, when open and accepting grantees, to bring the Planet Bee Seed Ball Stewardship Kits and the Beeyond HarvestED Garden and Agriculture Digital Toolkits to their schools!
How Planet Bee supports STEM Education, Career Readiness, and the FrAY Ecosystem:
We inform and inspire learners of all ages to embrace STEM through innovative and inclusive programs. We use technology and hands-on learning for both in-person events in the community and engagement across our virtual curriculum , ensuring broad access to science-driven learning. Our K-12 programs immerse students in the captivating world of bees and ecosystems, emphasizing environmental stewardship and actionable solutions for urgent climate issues. We aim to provide our learners with enough content knowledge that they feel empowered to innovate solutions for real-world problems.
We empower students for STEM careers by fostering a profound understanding of ecology, biology, and environmental science. Our programs bridge the gap between theory and real-world application, equipping learners to take on innovation as future scientists and engineers. Additionally, our virtual STEM lessons simulate the role of scientists and engineers, providing diverse individuals with authentic experiences building understanding of science and engineering fields, ensuring a future rich in diversity and expertise in STEM fields.
